The Advertising and Marketing Association at Huston-Tillotson University is a student-run organization that is affiliated with both the American Marketing Association and the American Advertising Federation. Students participating in this club hear professional speakers, earn sales experience and enjoy social events with both the American Marketing Association and the American Advertising Federation. This club is open to all students at Huston-Tillotson University.
National Association of Black Accountants (NABA)
This is a nationwide professional association with the primary purpose of developing, encouraging and serving as a resource for greater participation by African-Americans and other minorities in the accounting and finance professions. The mission of NABA is to address the professional needs of its members and to build leaders that shape the future of the accounting and finance professions. Delta Mu Delta (ΔΜΔ) International Business Honor Society
Delta Mu Delta (ΔΜΔ) is an international honor society that recognizes academic excellence in Baccalaureate, Master’s, and Doctorate degree business administration programs at Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP)-accredited schools.
An invitation to join ΔΜΔ confirms that a student has a proven track record of working hard to achieve excellence in his/her studies. It shows that the student has the knowledge and drive to succeed in a business career. Membership in ΔΜΔ is the highest international recognition that business students can earn. Toastmasters Club
Members learn speechmaking in a supportive environment and gradually work toward various levels of certifications at a comfortable pace. Rewarding opportunities for participating in various speaking contests, mentoring, club leadership, and other activities abound. Beta Kappa Chi Conference
Beta Kappa Chi (BKX) Scientific Honor Society and The National Institute of Science hold their joint conference each year. These organizations provide an opportunity for students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) to exchange information and present scholarly research papers in science and mathematics. BKX is a collegiate honor society dedicated to the promotion of high scholarship in pure and applied sciences.
LittleFe Cluster Computer
The LittleFe cluster computer was created to help in the teaching of computational science. Many institution and teaching environments do not have access to parallel platforms for parallel and distrusted computing education. Teaching key concepts such as speedup, efficiency, and load balancing are much more effectively done on a parallel platform. LittleFe makes it possible to have a powerful ready-to-run computational science and HPC educational platform for less than $3,000. As part of Super Computer Conferences (SC), Huston-Tillotson University and other institutions were selected to participate in building a LittleFe in exchange for creating curriculum modules.
Google Community Leadership Program
The Google Community Leadership Program (CLP) is a multi-stakeholder digital inclusion program anchored by collaboration between universities and Google Fiber. The goal of this program is to narrow the digital divide by addressing digital literacy needs in the Austin Communities and helping Austin residents with low internet usage gain access to the transformational opportunity power of the internet.
My Brother’s Keeper Coding Markerspace
Makerspaces are community centers with tools. Makerspaces combine manufacturing equipment, community, and education for the purposes of enabling community members to design, prototype and create manufactured works that would not be possible to create with the resources available to individuals working alone.
My Brother’s Keeper Coding Markerspace is a coding camp for junior/senior high school boys. They are taught Gigabot and Virtual Reality. Additionally, My Brother’s Keeper Coding Markerspace teaches computer science concepts to K-12 teachers. They learn about Gigabot, Virtual Reality, Dash and Dot, Micro-Bits and more.
