DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

Austin, Texas USA has fast become one of the key technology centers in North America and Huston-Tillotson University has benefited by becoming partners with various technology companies including IBM, Dell Inc., Apple, Samsung, Google, and others. Because of those technology firms and others, the demand for IT professionals in Austin and the surrounding area has grown faster than universities can produce graduates.

The HT Computer Science Department offers two degrees: 1) a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science and 2) a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Information Systems. Beginning in Fall 2018, the Computer Science program will offer concentrations in Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Robotics. Students work closely with faculty members to explore the discipline of computing, learn skills they can use in the marketplace, and have the opportunity to do research in their chosen field.

If you want to be in the midst of the intellectual excitement that is changing every other discipline, then computer science is the place to be.

STEM and the OPT

The two degrees in Computer Science have been designated by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency as a STEM-eligible degree program. The STEM designation allows eligible graduates on student visas access to an Optional Practical Training (OPT) extension of up to 36 months.
