Why study Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineers play vital roles in various industries, including automotive, aerospace, biotechnology, computers, electronics, microelectromechanical systems, energy conversion, robotics and automation, and manufacturing. The ME curriculum design provides its students with specific, highly productive skills so that, upon completing the program, they can make a valuable contribution to the industry’s workforce.

A degree in Mechanical Engineering provides students with creative thinking skills to design a product or system, analytical tools to achieve their design goals, overcome all constraints, and the teamwork needed to design, market, and produce a system. Students can apply these valuable skills to gain employment in a wide range of engineering fields.

Career Opportunities in Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineers design power-producing machines, such as electric generators, internal combustion engines, and steam and gas turbines, as well as power-using machines. There are an endless supply of companies hiring ME graduates including Tesla, Flex, Firefly Aerospace, Torc Robotics, Samsung, and more.

Career options include:

  • Cell Manufacturing
  • Operations Quality Engineer
  • Experience Mechanical Engineer
  • HVAC Facilities
  • Spacecraft Fluids & Propulsion Manufacturing
  • Mechanical Designs (Castings, Structures, and Drive Systems)
