Description of Robotics

In our Robotics program, you learn how to critically think and logically reason, while gaining experience designing and building systems. The Robotics concentration teaches about both components of robotics — software programming and hardware, like sensors and actuators. The robotics major is interdisciplinary, meaning the targeted courses pertain to computer science mathematics.

Huston-Tillotson University is one of a small few institutions of higher education in Texas that offers a robotics program and a robotics lab. Students are able to work closely with faculty on research projects and build skills through lab activities.

Why Concentrate in Robotics?

In this program, students do much more than just study robots—they build them, interact with them, explore their design and function, and push them to their limits. Natural talent for imaginative thought allows you to visualize how a robot will move and interact with its environment. The future is autonomy, engineered. Be the engineer of tomorrow.

Career Opportunities in Robotics

Robotics is a rapidly emerging, distinct field that offer an abundance of professional opportunities. In engineering, some robotics engineers specialize in initial design, writing control software, or creating specific parts of a robot. You may even be able to develop robotic applications across many industries, including automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, defense, and medicine. The average annual robotics engineering salary in the US is $83,072.
